kathmandu : Kami Rita Sherpa, the world record holder for the most number of successful Mt. Everest summits, has started his 28th ascent of Mt. Everest.

After equaling the record of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa by summiting Mt. Everest for the 27th time, Kami Rita Sherpa is now on his 28th climb to Mt. Everest to establish his own world record for the most number of Everest ascents. He began his latest expedition from Monday, as reported by Seven Summit Treks, the renowned mountaineering company. According to Thaneshwar Guragai, the manager of Seven Summit Treks, Kami Rita is planning to reach the summit today (Tuesday), but news of his successful ascent has not yet been confirmed.

Kami Rita Sherpa, from Solukhumbu, works as a guide for Seven Summit Treks. He had successfully climbed Mt. Everest for the first time in 2051 B.S. (1994 A.D.), making him the first Sherpa to achieve this feat.
